Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is not a perfect film, I understand. The first half of it is … lagging, we shall say. I wish it would have been presented as more of an event film than it was – I feel like they would have benefited from watching Ocean’s 11 and been like, “Okay, let’s make this but Star Wars,” only with a bittersweet ending. I’m thinking almost like the ending of Fight Club. The last half, though? I was on the edge of my seat, knowing that they succeed but at what cost and OMG, even just thinking about it gets my heart rate up.
But anyway, I unabashedly love this movie. I love Jyn Erso (I have her figurine sitting up on my desk), and Cassian Andor is such a great complex character that you just don’t see that often in the main Star Wars canon. You knew that everyone was probably going to die by the end of the film, but every single main character gets this glorious death (especially Donnie Yen’s Chirrut and Jiang Wen’s Baze). As a matter of fact, I’m going to watch it this evening!
