I’ve heard of about a reboot of Xena: Warrior Princess for years, and my desire for anything more from the series dwindles by the year. Don’t get me wrong: I absolutely adore this show and will treasure it forever, but it was made and released when it was supposed to, trailblazing for plenty of shows that have followed since. I’ve read some of the comics, and I guess they’re fine? I’d rather just watch the show, honestly, and now that I have it on DVD, I don’t have to cry about it anymore. If anything, I wouldn’t mind seeing a “where is she now” for Gabrielle; she took Xena’s mantle after she died, and it might be a cool miniseries, but only if Renee O’Connor was up for it.
I don’t know, with all the reboots going on because Hollywood doesn’t want to actually pay creators that come up with original content, I just want IP to remain where they are until Hollywood stops being a baby about it. I don’t want another Sex and the City or hell, even just a rehashing of Marvel comic book stories into the MCU, and I say that as someone who legitimately likes WandaVision.
So basically, my answer is going to be the same as I did in other challenges: let this stay what it is and how it is currently. The time has come for new stories, new intellectual properties … with better CGI and a willingness to just let lesbians be lesbians.
