So last week’s “on rotation…” inspired me to listen to nothing but Cibo Matto for the last seven days, and I regret nothing. Not only did get transported back to high school, but I also found out that they released an album all the way back in 2014 that I didn’t even know they’d done and was aghast at myself for being so ignorant. After about six days, though, I wanted to find other bands that have that eclectic weirdness that is CM, and I was not disappointed.
Naturally, Bjork showed up (also the video was made back in the mid- to late-90s, which means Bjork is wearing bantu knots and maybe a bindi, Gwen Stefani-style, so be prepared for the lazy racism), and Miho Hatori’s (one of the two women making up Cibo Matto) solo stuff graced my ears, as well. I think my favorite one that I discovered was Satanicpornocultshop just because the name is delightful.
But anyway, here are the results of my experiment:
