Today is a special one because not one, but two birthdays are going on: my loving father and my surprisingly zippy, eleven-year-old bulldog, Zola! And because today is what it is, I am going to be quick about today’s challenge. After all, how am I supposed to celebrate the births of two of the greatest creatures on earth (I feel a little Chris Traeger here?) if I spend it writing?

Anyway, my favorite moment that comes from the many interlude episodes is a pretty brief one. In Episode 17 (“Lunar Interlude I: Carnival Chaos”), it’s revealed that everyone has to dress up (why not?) for the Midsummer Solstice celebration, and the McElroys describe their costumes, much to my amusement.

• Taako is dressed as High Paladin Lance Ito, seemingly in mockery of the real-life celebrity-ish judge.
• Merle’s Ursula costume comes complete with paper mache breasts.
• Magnus stole Taako’s clothing and is a little upset that no one guesses who he is supposed to be.

The whole thing is just so ludicrous and hilarious and was the moment that I started to fall in love with Clint McElroy.
