Today is my first in-person day for Ye Olde New Jobbe, so this is going to be a short and sweet entry, but it’s not like today’s topic is so complicated to where it would require more than a couple of paragraphs. And I’ll make it easier by just putting the answer above the cut:
It always seems that I pick the same number movie in a series as my favorite one, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy is no different: The Two Towers has my favorite sequence in the entire set of movies (the arrival of Gandalf and the Rohirrim at Helm’s Deep) and, in my opinion, is the best written. How it balances the different stories, keeping each engaging, is a feat that the other movies don’t accomplish as well; I got bored of Frodo, Sam, and Gollum’s story during The Return of the King, even the more exciting parts, and I don’t know, The Fellowship of the Ring for me was a little slow. Don’t get me wrong, I like all of the movies; I just like everything about The Two Towers more. Hell, I even like the long-distance romance of Aragorn and Arwen, even though that apparently wasn’t in the books proper and only mentioned in the appendices.
Anyway, this is my favorite of the films, and once work is done, I may actually go back and watch it! After all, I spent all of October watching very scary movies, so this will be a nice break.
