Monthly Wrap-Up
Jesus, how is it already the end of April … granted, the last week has felt like it’s been four years long, for several reasons, but still! I truly cannot believe that, in the middle of all the things I’m dealing with right now, I was able to complete a full 30-day challenge without missing one and having to double (or triple) up just to make sure I stay on time.
I actually learned so much about my own project over the last thirty days, something that I wasn’t really expecting to happen, and I made some breakthroughs that have moved me past some major writer’s blocks. This does mean that I’m going to have to scrap some ideas and scenes and rewrite others, and at least two of the three snippets I posted this month are probably going to be part of that. Oh, well! That’s all part of the writing process.
In addition to really examining my own writing with the same type of lens I use to critique my favorite pieces of media, I made it a point to share a piece of me, which is something I haven’t really done artistically – in a writer’s sense – since 2015 or so. It’s been a really great exercise in vulnerability, and even though Paradiso isn’t quite ready yet, I know that when the time does come for me to shop it around – or maybe even publish it myself – I’ll be that much more confident to put it out there into the world.
Thank you all so much for coming on this little journey with me, and I hope you’ll come back to see how it’s coming along!
