Which character has the worst luck?
There is one character that I can think of that would be the best person for this question … however, if I were to answer it that way, I would give away a huge plot twist that I feel would ruin things, so I’m going to go with another character: Detective Fox “Bucky” Roebuck.
Like so many entries in this challenge, I can’t go too much into detail because it will give away a ton of the book to the point where … like, why would you read it if you already know what’s going to happen?? Bucky’s run of bad luck starts at his introduction and continues through the end of the book; he does the best he can with whatever information he has, but it leads him down a path that doesn’t really allow him to course correct. And it’s not even completely his fault; he just manages to unwittingly get involved in a situation well beyond his control when his personal life entangles with his work life.
Bucky feels passionately about so many things in his life, especially those he loves, and it was almost always going to be his downfall … or perhaps a pathway to better things for him where he can truly be himself. Only time will tell.
