Would your character embrace their fate or fight it?

I’ve actually really been looking forward to this post because I finally get to talk about Fan, probably one of my favorite characters to write at any given time because she’s just … I just love her so much.

Anyway …

Fan was able to escape a life not of her own making when she was 13 years old (with the help of a friend, probably the only friend she had at the time) and has been living free ever since, so the idea that someone – or something – was going to take away her agency again would be enough for her to steel herself against it. Not only that, but Fan has responsibilities now; she’s got a sister to watch out for, friends to exploit, and revenge to enact. The only way that fate is going to get her is if it gets in line with what she wants, and if it doesn’t? Well, it’ll just have to wait until she’s ready to accept it … if she ever does.
