Paradiso Challenge, Day 10

Superstitions in Paradiso

Marjani “Jani” Reis is a ship’s captain, and that role almost always comes with a lot of superstitions. Before she starts on another voyage, she has to tap three times on the stained glass picture of St. Clement’s anchor that hangs on the bridge, and the night before leaving a port, she hosts a fight night between crews as a means to ward off bad luck (blood being spilled, but not in a murder-y way, before casting off is considered auspicious). Even though she has a helmsman, she is still a pilot herself, so she wears her lucky bandana around her neck; her crew sometimes jokes that she even showers with it on, and she does little to prove them wrong.

I would make this post longer, but uuugghhhhh, I worked 12 hours overnight and badly need to get some rest before starting all over again. Basically, what I’m saying is that my next post will likely be just as short? But who knows, I could catch a second or third wind maybe.
