You guys.

I am so proud of myself.

I completed a project. Like … totally finished something. And it’s not terrible!

For my first major DIY project in … years? This little dresser-turned-gardening-storage isn’t too shabby a job. It’s not the sturdiest little thing – two of the remaining three doors are a little fragile and might break, so I may be making this a bookshelf in the future – but darn it, it’s cute.

LOOKIT HOW CUTE IT IS:

I swear to god, this lighting just keeps changing what the color is: Matte Sunrise by Krylon, a pinky, peachy, orangey … mango color??? What’s funny is, none of the pictures on that site accurately depict the color, either, so let’s just say the color is somewhere in between all of them. #throwshandsup

The paper towel holder was actually a suggestion my mom gave me, and even though I was skeptical at first, I like the idea of having a place to keep paper towels, and the caddy on top currently holds a bottle of wasp spray, so it’s already doing the Lord’s work*. The dresser is going to be outside, so I don’t know how clean those towels will be, but hey, it’s the thought that counts.

I am so happy about this little chicken wire basket with hooks**, though. Easy to install and will do exactly what I want it to: store tools. Well, when I get some, that is. I left what few gardening tools I had when I moved out of South Carolina, and I’m using borrowed tools at the moment. But that’s okay! I have plenty of time … probably.

And can I just talk about that vinyl wallpaper again?? It is just plain gorgeous and easy to work with. I’ll probably go with something different if I do a similar project in the future, mainly because I’m not 100% sure how it will hold up outside. I mean, this is going to be situated on the deck, under a roof thing and not directly in the sun for more than a couple of hours, but still.

Next time I do a DIY project or hell, one of my watercolor pieces even, I’m going to try to remember to take more pictures of the process***, but for now, this will do.

* I don’t hate wasps; I’m just allergic to them, and I don’t really want to deal with getting stung. Otherwise, they’re cool, if not misunderstood, bugs.

** I have been trying to find the exact one that I bought on here, even clicking on the link on my past order history, and it only brings me to the two-tiered version? So … I have no idea what is going on here, but if you like the one I bought, I’m sure you can find something similar.

*** I’m actually planning on refurbishing a coffee table that was given to me, and I’m already coming up with some ideas. Off to Pinterest I go!
