Buffy the Vampire Slayer Challenge

I did this challenge all the way back in 2013, and it was the first one I ever did, so I figured it would be appropriate for this to be my first challenge on my brand-spanking-new site. Plus, it gives me a chance to rewatch the series, which is something I’ve been meaning to do but just haven’t had the time.

Buffy was my first television love, the first time I ever really connected with any fictional characters on a deep, emotional level. I mean, sure, I’d enjoyed shows before, but this was different; I felt things and cared about the people on the screen in front of me. I tuned in every week and got bummed when the season finale aired. It was an exciting time, especially as a young writer. I would record and rewatch the episodes for things I might have missed, absorbing the storytelling in a way I hadn’t before. I started mimicking a lot of the techniques I saw in my now lost projects, something that continues to this day. Joss Whedon may not have the same effect on me today due to various reasons (which I won’t get into here), but damn, did he influence me.
