Wow.

It’s been over a year since I’ve updated with literally anything. My life has been anything but boring – started a new job in January of this year and will soon start yet another one (same hospital, just different unit) in two weeks, dated a couple of people (one of whom was a closet Republican who thought he was nonpolitical), bought a house, currently have nine animals (two dogs, three cats, and four guinea chicks), watched in horror as Trump got elected a second time, etc. – but sadly I’ve had little time to write and/or paint. Basically, most of my time has been spent on noncreative endeavors.

But that’s going to change.

I’m not going to wait until the new year to make some alterations in my behavior, either. I’m starting now. I’ve got a renewed sense of purpose, part of which involves really delving into my hedge witch status in my very red town/state. A big part of why I got my guineas was to be somewhat self-sufficient; I only have 0.11 acre, but I’m going to try and make it the weirdest, most eclectic property on the block, starting with four guinea chicks, all named for House of the Dragon characters (Baela, Rhaenyra, Meleys, and Vhagar). I also already have a plan for what I’m going to plant in the late winter/early spring so I can have some fresh produce.

And then there’s the writing. The Legion has been in my life since I was 16 years old, and I don’t think it’s going to leave me alone until I finish it. So I’ve officially begun the process of writing the first book, a completely different beast than my previously published novella (of which I am still proud, I’m just in a different place than when I put it out there for the world to see). Before, it was a way to process my trauma from my failed marriage, but now? It means so much more than that … I am not a reflection of that period of my life, so why should my art be?

Anyway, I’m back and ready to go! I don’t have anything really planned over the next couple of weeks except maybe a quick introduction to all of the animals that rule my life at present, and mayyyyybe even a little tidbit of what I’ve been working on. I’m truly excited to be returning to my little world on the internet, and I can’t wait to show you!
