So #Horrorpalooza2021 was a bust last year. I did really well the first week, but then school and mental health happened, which required me to have a complete shutdown naturally. Here’s what I watched:
- Them!
- Audition
- Hausu/House
- Willy’s Wonderland
- An American Werewolf in London
- Drag Me to Hell
- Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
I think my two favorites were Willy’s Wonderland and Them!, although after watching Hausu/House a few more times, it became a lot more fun for me. I spent most of my time being annoyed by Drag Me to Hell‘s protagonist, and An American Werewolf in London was enjoyable but such a damn downer. Audition was absolutely disgusting once it finally got moving, but Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was just as beautiful and epic as I remembered it.
I’ve watched a few of the movies I had scheduled for last year (What We Do in the Shadows and Parasite, more specifically), so I’m going to have to come up with a few new ones. Plus, I’m not in schoooooooooooool! It’s a strange place to be, after spending all of my time for the last 16 months doing nothing but nursing school shit, but it just means I can go all out doing this for 2022.
Anyway, here are some of the movies I’m wanting to watch over the course of October:
- The Fog
- 28 Days Later
- Insidious
- My Bloody Valentine (1981)
- Dr. Sleep
- 30 Days of Night
- The Return of the Living Dead
- The Descent
- Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
- Nightmare on Elm Street
- Scream
- [REC]
- Cam
- Jennifer’s Body
- Slither
- The Strangers
- Night of the Comet
- The Host
I have not seen any of these movies ever, even as an almost 39-year-old adult, so I think this will be an … interesting experience, especially since so many of these movies were pretty formative for a lot of people. I’m also looking into foreign language horror movies, too, and I will gladly accept any suggestions. So feel free to comment below or contact me using the link at the top of the page.
